Text of Andre Lalonde's October 17, 2006 Letter
Dear Ms. Foster,
I regret to inform you that an unfortunate error was committed by our staff who registered your two sons, Douglas and
Sebastian, as special students in the Science and Society course (SCI1101). When you came to the Faculty office on September
20th, our staff failed to realize that your two sons are 10 years old. While our regulations do allow gifted high-school
students to register as special students under some circumstances, it is impossible for students in elementary school to do
so. I sincerely regret this error on our behalf.
I have instructed the office of undergraduate studies to cancel your sons' registrations in SCI1101 and to refund you
with all the fees that you have disboursed for their registration. Please find enclosed the modification forms confirming
that your soons have been de-registered.
Please accept my sincere apologies. If necessary, I can be reached at 613-562-5985 to discuss this matter.
Andre E. Lalonde
Acting Dean
